Privacy Policy

The Data Society Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the “Alliance”) recognizes the important social responsibility of compliance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other related laws and regulations, as well as the proper handling of information that can identify customers (hereinafter referred to as “Personal Information”) held by the Alliance, and thus has established the following basic policy on the protection of Personal Information.

 

  1. Compliance with Laws and Regulations

The Alliance shall comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003) and other related laws and regulations.

  1. Appropriate Acquisition and Use of Personal Information

The Alliance acquires and uses the Personal Information of members and other individuals (hereinafter referred to as “Members, etc.”) whose Personal Information is held by the Alliance in a fair and appropriate manner.

  1. Implementation of Appropriate Security Measures

The Alliance shall take reasonable protective measures to prevent unauthorized access, falsification, leakage, etc., of Personal Information in its possession, and take necessary and appropriate security measures to that end. In the event that the handling of Personal Information is entrusted to a subcontractor, the Alliance shall enter into a contract with the subcontractor to ensure that it handles the Personal Information in a necessary and appropriate manner, and shall supervise it as appropriate.

  1. Organizational Structure Regarding Personal Information

The Alliance has established an appropriate internal organizational structure to ensure the appropriate handling of the Personal Information it manages, and shall respond as promptly as possible to requests from Members, etc. for disclosure, correction, and other inquiries.

  1. Items to be Disclosed with Regard to Personal Information

A. Contacting Members, etc. to the extent necessary for the management and administration of information pertaining to Members, etc. that is known to the Alliance
B. Notifying Members, etc. of various services provided by Members, etc. and the activities of the Alliance
C. Publication on the Alliance’s website and in promotional materials, etc., subject to the consent of the individual

(3) Shared use
The Alliance shall not engage in the sharing of personal data.

(4) Anonymously processed information
The Alliance shall not create or use any anonymously processed information.

(5) Disclosure, correction, and addition of Personal Information

① For inquiries regarding Personal Information managed by the Alliance or requests for disclosure, correction, suspension of use, deletion, etc. of Personal Information, please contact the following consultation counter via postal mail.

② Requests for disclosure are not honored in the following cases. In these cases, the Alliance shall send notification with the reason why the information cannot be disclosed.
・When the identity of the person making the request cannot be verified or the existence of a power of attorney cannot be confirmed.
・When the Alliance is not in possession of the personal data to which the request for disclosure pertains.
・When there is a risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights or interests of the person making the request or a third party.
・When there is a risk of significant hindrance to the proper implementation of the Alliance’s business.
・When it violates other laws and regulations.

(6) Counter for reception of complaints

Complaints and other matters regarding the handling of Personal Information by the Alliance should be addressed to the consultation counter detailed in (5) above. Please note that our company is currently not covered by an authorized personal information protection organization.

  1. Modifications or Changes to the Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is subject to modifications or changes at any time without prior notice. The latest version of this Privacy Policy is posted and published on this website, so please check it periodically.
